You feel a super absorbent baby diaper before you understand it. The topsheet is soft, sure, but the real engineering is the absorbent core — a blend of fluff pulp and super absorbent polymer (SAP), the white powder that turns to gel beads on contact with liquid. Get that blend wrong and no amount of pretty printing saves you.

What SAP actually does

SAP is a cross-linked polyacrylate that can hold 30–50 times its weight in fluid and refuse to give it back. Fluff pulp: the highway, not the tank

The ADL and rewet

Above the core sits the acquisition distribution layer (ADL), which spreads the first gush so the SAP can grab it. Below sits the question of rewet — how much fluid creeps back under pressure. Capacity you can spec

Capacity is measured as AUL (absorption under load) and retention. When you brief an OEM ODM manufacturer, these numbers — not "super absorbent" on the box — decide overnight performance. A visible wetness indicator tells the caregiver when the core is full.
