Fluff pulp is the structural backbone of the core. It wicks liquid away from the topsheet, spreads it across the pad, and hands it to the SAP. Take pulp out and the gel has nowhere to spread. The hybrid core is where the spec lives
A premium baby diaper runs roughly 40 to 60 percent SAP, the rest fluff pulp, with an ADL layer on top to pull liquid down. Adult products push the pulp share higher for capacity; ultra-thin products push the SAP share higher and accept a stiffer feel. The buyer who knows the ratio can argue the price with the factory. The buyer who doesn't, takes whatever the line is set up for.
How to specify absorbency without getting lost
Ask the factory for the absorption rate, the retention under pressure, and the rewet number, not adjectives. The SAP source matters; Japanese and German SAPs behave differently under load.
